Scout Network Celebrates Record Success of Top Award Recipients!

This week we celebrated the success of Scout Network members (18-25) achieving the highest awards on offer within Scouts! Over the course of the evening we enjoyed hearing from members of their highs and lows and most memorable moments during their adventures and quest to achieve their awards.

A record achievement across the County with 64 awards from 2022! Here’s the stats:

  • 21 Queen Scouts Awards
  • 2 King Scout Awards
  • 22 Scout of the World Awards
  • 14 Duke of Edinburgh Gold Awards
  • 5 Explorer Belt Awards

Lee McNulty: ‘I’m immensely proud of all our awardees, who have shown true grit, can-do attitude, determination, and resilience. We call it that ‘never give up’ spirit! They have all shown that they do more than exist…’

We were honoured to have guest speaker and Team GB Olympian Graeme Thomas share his insights around resilience and that never give up spirit alongside presenting our members with their Awards.

Graeme a former rugby union player from Preston, he switched to rowing at the age of 20 and first represented GB at the European Rowing Championships in 2011 after going through the GB Rowing Team Start talent identification and development programme. He was the GB single sculler at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Chief Scout Bear Grylls ‘King/Queen’s Scout Award recipients are the absolute pinnacle of determination, grit and perseverance’

‘King/Queen’s Scout Award recipients are the absolute pinnacle of determination, grit and perseverance,’ said Bear Grylls, Chief Scout. ‘They’ve contributed to their communities and developed skills along the way, and earning their King/Queen’s Scout Awards is just another step in their journey to personal growth. These Scouts are an inspiration to all others around the world thanks to their hard work and I find myself full of admiration for every single one of them.’

The former Queen Scout Award and newly renamed King’s Scout Award is the top achievement for Explorer Scouts and Scout Network members. Earning it is a huge achievement!

The Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award enables young people to test themselves with an Award for every level of challenge.

The Scouts of the World, is all about being a global citizen and make an impact on the world while learning new skills.

The Explorer Belt is the challenge of a lifetime. Explore untrodden ground over a ten-day period, test your limits and get to grips with a new culture.

As Scout Network, there are more chances to soar than ever before, as you’ll be introduced to a whole new range of Top Awards.

You can work towards as many awards as you like, at your own pace. Are you ready? Let’s get stuck in.
