Maxwell, Young Scout uses skills for life to reach for the stars.
A young boy from Penwortham proves that curiosity, determination, and a love of learning can take you anywhere—even to the stars!
Maxwell Peake, who has just started school, has been welcomed into Mensa, the world’s leading high-IQ society. He scored in the top 0.5% in IQ assessments before he was even four and a half years old. His mathematical ability was higher than 99.9% of the population.
Maxwell’s thirst for knowledge was clear from a young age. By just two years old, he could name and describe over 100 trains, and by three, he was reading books by Stephen Hawking. He had also memorised the periodic table, world flags, the human body, and all the world’s countries—showing how much he loves challenging himself.
Amy, his key worker at the nursery, encouraged his curiosity by exploring maps and the solar system with him. At home, Maxwell’s dad had to do his own research to keep up with his son’s knowledge of space!
Recognising that Maxwell needed extra support to develop his talents, his parents turned to Mensa to help him continue to explore and grow.
“We are so proud of Maxwell,” his parents shared. “We’ve always known he had something special, and we’re excited to see where his passion for learning takes him. With Mensa’s support, he can keep developing his skills and reaching for his dreams.”
Maxwell dreams of becoming an astrophysicist and one day discovering a new exoplanet. Before Christmas, he had the incredible opportunity to meet one of his heroes, astronaut and Scout Ambassador Tim Peake, who shares his passion for space exploration.
With his determination and love of discovery, there’s no doubt that Maxwell has an exciting journey ahead.
