What is it?
An international Scouting experience for Explorer Scouts.
We are excited to announce that we are looking to recruit an additional assistant leader for our Explorer Scouts 2025 International Trip to Kandersteg in Switzerland!
We are heading to Kandersteg Scout International Scout Campsite (KISC) in Switzerland from 8th to 17th August 2025. This will be a 10 day/7-night trip where participants will experience all that the Permanent Mini Jamboree, the dream of Lord Baden-Powell has to offer!
This will be a great opportunity for Explorer Scouts to have a fantastic adventure, making new friends from around the world, experiencing the world of international scouting and all the adrenalin and adventure that Switzerland has to offer.
Who is eligible to apply for this trip?
Any member of West Lancashire Scouts who is 18 or above by the 1st January 2026 is eligible to apply as the leader for this trip.
Where is it?
Kandersteg International Scout Campsite, Switzerland!
We will be camping for 7 nights in Kandersteg, Switzerland on an International Scout Campsite. Participants will take part in a weeklong programme of adventure and international friendship, with the opportunity to make friends with scouts from all over the world and experience both Swiss culture and scenery. We will travel from Lancashire by coach and ferry across Europe to Kandersteg.

Total price for the trip is £1495
What is included:
- Two training weekends, an indoor one and an outdoor one
- A branded Polo shirt, an International Necker and 2 Badges
- Travel Insurance (Note: This may not cover some expensive items such as cameras)
- All food & accommodation during the trip
- Travel to and from Lancashire to Kandersteg and back
- Adventurous Activities whilst in Switzerland such as Canyoning, River Rafting, Golitschepass Cheesery Hike, or take a trip on the Oeschinensee Gondola combined with a swim, or a hike! (The actual activities to be chosen by the participants themselves)
- International Friendship Award – this award focuses on the Kandersteg Permanent Mini Jamboree feeling. It encourages the young people to explore and develop their interest in other cultures and ways of life — a great way to meet other Scouts from around the world and create lifelong friendships.
Itinerary
Below are the key dates for the Trip and the Training Weekends. You are expected to make all of these dates if at all possible.
- Training Weekend 1 (Indoors) – November 22nd – 24th 2024
- Training Weekend 2 (Outdoors) – March 28th – 30th 2025
- Final Training Day – 5th July 2025
- Trip – 8th August 2025 – 17th August 2025

How much commitment will this trip be?
This trip will undoubtedly be a very rewarding experience for both leaders and participants. To make this trip the best it can be, it will require adults to give up a number of evenings for planning and as well as trip meet ups and training weekends. Leader’s attendance is required at all training events and planning meetings, but these will be scheduled around leader’s availability.
