Trip Outline
In 2026, we are looking to take a group of Beaver Scouts from West Lancashire on a trip of a lifetime! We would like the Beavers to have an international adventure to introduce them to the world of international scouting. The length and timing of the trip would be decided by the leadership team, but is most likely to be a long weekend in May or the school Summer holidays of 2026.
We are currently looking to recruit additional assistant leaders to join our trip leader, Heather Clipston.
If you’d like to find out more or have an informal chat then you can contact Heather directly on heather.clipston@westlancsscouts.org.uk
Who is this trip for?
This trip is open to Beaver Scouts from across West Lancashire, although due to the lead in time to the event we expect most participants will be older Beavers by the time they take part.
Who is eligible to apply for this trip?
Any member of West Lancashire Scouts who is 18 or above by the 1st January 2026 is eligible to apply as a leader for this trip.
When will the trip be taking place?
The trip will most likely be in May or the school Summer holidays in 2026.
Where is this trip going to?
The final location will be chosen by the leadership team prior to recruiting young people but it is expected to be in Northern Europe.
Skills and Qualities for the trip leader of this trip

- Someone who conducts themselves professionally at all times and acts with dignity and respect in line with our core Scouting values.
- Willingness to accept support and work with support from the International Events Team to deliver this international experience.
- It is desirable if the trip leader has experience of leading a team of volunteers to deliver a project, or similar professional experience.
Skills and Qualities for all leaders of this trip

- Willingness to work as part of a team.
- Resilience, especially when things are extremely challenging.
- The capability and enthusiasm to support young people with their fundraising.
- A passion to be part of an overseas trip team.
How much commitment will this trip be?
This trip will undoubtedly be a very rewarding experience for both leaders and participants. To make this trip the best it can be, it will require adults to give up a number of evenings for planning and as well as trip meet ups and training weekends. Leader’s attendance is required at all training events and planning meetings, but these will be scheduled around leader’s availability.
How much will this trip cost?
Based on previous trips, we estimate the leader’s contribution for this trip will be somewhere around £500. The final figure will be dependent on the trips budget and will be calculated in line with the International Events Team’s Leader Fee Policy. Leaders will have the opportunity to seek financial support if they feel they need it from a variety of sources, including from the Scout Association’s Overseas Fund.
How many leaders are we looking to recruit?
We are looking to recruit 6 leaders to take 24 Beaver Scouts on the trip.
