Ormskirk DLV Announcement

Following an open search process, I am delighted to announce that Liam McCafferty has accepted my offer to become the next Lead Volunteer for Ormskirk & District Scouts.

Liam joined Scouting as an adult volunteer relatively recently, but has already made a significant impact in his role as Group Lead Volunteer at 4th Ormskirk (1st Parbold and Newburgh). He brings a wealth of professional experience, which I am confident will benefit both the District and the County. The interview panel were particularly impressed by his ideas to support volunteers and develop the District. Liam is already known at Parbold and within the District Leadership Team, and he is eager to meet more volunteers across the District as he steps into this new role. I know you will all join me in giving him a warm welcome and every support.

Liam will succeed Chris Charlton as Lead Volunteer at the AGM on 10th June, and will work with her to ensure a smooth handover over the next few weeks.

I would also like to place on record my thanks to Chris, on behalf of the County and Ormskirk & District. She has led the District with care, kindness, and dedication throughout her term. The District and County are stronger for her contributions, and, most importantly, young people have had a better start in life thanks to her work. I know she will continue to support the District in other ways.

The AGM is a great opportunity to look back on the past year, thank Chris for her service, and meet Liam in person to talk about the future. I hope to see many of you there. Finally, I want to thank the search group, led by Imogen Gregg-Auriac, for their diligence and professionalism throughout this process. Ormskirk is in good shape, with a bright future ahead. I know that under Liam’s leadership—and with the ongoing commitment and support of all the volunteers in the District—Ormskirk will continue to thrive.

Best Wishes,

Andrew Hobson
