West Lancashire Scouts is excited to announce a new and exciting partnership with Essity, a leading global hygiene and health company that is breaking barriers to well-being.
Under a new partnership Essity have provided more than £5000 to fund a new set of sails for Setanta, the county’s sailing yacht based on Coniston in The Lake District. This secures the long-term future of Setanta and enabling that thousands more young people get out on the water. At Scouts we help young people – and adult volunteers – step up, speak up and find their place in the world. We build skills for life.
Andy Greenough, one of Setanta’s volunteer skippers said: “Thanks to Essity we can now look forward to teaching more young people about sailing, developing teamworking, confidence and a love of the outdoors”.

We hope to welcome some Essity employees on-board soon, to show them the new sails in action. Showing volunteering at Scouts is a two-way street. It’s good for young people, and good for you too. #GoodForYou
Essity also provided £500 from their community fund towards the annual running costs of Setanta, meaning the cost to young people can be kept as low as possible. If you’d like to know more about Setanta, or book to bring your young people on-board for a sailing experience, visit. You can find out more here
Why we need help to make this work
We’re a charity and a volunteer-led youth movement. Scouts can only succeed with the help and support of You! Volunteering at Scouts isn’t just about changing young people’s lives. It’s about doing something that’s #GoodForYou too. Good for your health and happiness, good for developing skills, and good for making friends.
