New Lead Volunteer Announced For Chorley District Scouts

Appointment of a new District Commissioner/Lead Volunteer…

Following an open search process, I am delighted to inform you that Amy Calderbank has accepted my offer to become the next District Commissioner/Lead Volunteer for Chorley District Scouts.

Amy will be well-known to many of you as she is currently a member of the District Trustee Board and a Group Chair. Amy has previously been a Deputy District Commissioner, an Assistant County Commissioner and has held leadership roles across a range of sections. Amy has also been involved in supporting our training and leading international trips. This, coupled with her professional experience, demonstrate Amy’s breadth of experience and skills which means she is well-placed to lead Chorley through an exciting period of change and transformation.

Amy will succeed Andy Lewis as District Commissioner at the District AGM in September. They will start their handover over the coming weeks. In the meantime, Amy will begin to build a team- in line with our new structure- to support the District in the coming months and years.

Andy has led the District with enormous dedication and commitment over the past four years. This has included supporting the District through the pandemic and through a period of recovery. I am hugely grateful for Andy’s leadership and tenacity and want to place on record, on behalf of the County, my thanks for him sharing his time and talents with us as District Commissioner of Chorley.

Finally, I want to thank the search group, led by Steve Morton, for their diligence and professionalism throughout this process. It is clear that Chorley is in great shape, and that Amy will have enormous support as she builds a team to strengthen our Scout Groups; introduce new Squirrel sections; reach more young people and deliver great programme opportunities. I know that the District will continue to thrive under Amy’s leadership and with the support of each one of you.
