blog by Unit Leader Matt Hornby – October 2021
We’ve found our stripes 🐯
Hi everyone! I’m Matt Hornby and I’m delighted to have been selected as the Unit Leader for the next World Scout Jamboree in Korea in 2023!
I wanted to start a blog to keep you up to date with all that is happening as we prepare to Think Big, Dream Wild & Act Together on our journey over the next two years. After I was appointed we held a selection day for all those shortlisted to become an Assistant Leader. The day took place at Waddecar at the beginning of this month and despite the rain we had a great day! There were so many fantastic leaders that applied and we had some really hard decisions to make at the end of it!
I am pleased to say that we appointed 3 great leaders, who all bring amazing skills and experience to the Unit.
Welcome to Andy Wroe, Karen Kennedy and Joe Hargreaves-Lee. You may have seen that we posted about it on our social media! So looking ahead, the team have a meeting planned in a couple of weeks, where we will begin to set the foundations of the unit. I have lots of ideas as we go along to ensure everyone in our County has the chance to #DrawYourDream and feel a part of this process. We’re also going to be sending out some information to Districts about local selection events and we cannot wait to see lots of our young people apply!
So for now, make sure you check out our social media at @WLSJamboree to keep up to date and I’ll check back here with you all soon! Matt
