This week, We are excited to launch our ambitious campaign for a a new activity centre in Lancashire, located within the heart of the Forest of Bowland at Waddecar Scout Activity Centre. The aim is to provide a state-of-the-art facility, inclusive, safe and future-fit accommodation for young people aged 4-25 with the aim during the lifetime of the building, to facilitate over 1 million Nights Away, enabling young people to experience outdoor education in a safe space and develop skills.

After facilitating hundreds of thousands of nights away from home for Scouts, Guides, Youth Groups, and Schools and a volunteer training base, Helme Lodge, our existing accommodation at Waddecar, needs a significant upgrade after over 50 years of service.

Our new building will provide flexibility to accommodate two groups (36 beds and 44 beds) independently with separate social spaces, kitchens and bathrooms or as one large group of up to 80, significantly increasing our capacity to reach more young people. Our research has shown a significant demand for a facility like this in Lancashire, which can be enjoyed by Scouts, other youth groups, and school groups all year round.

We aim to inspire positive futures and help young people find their place in the world by developing the character, employability and practical skills they need to succeed. Linking to our ambitious plans to provide better futures in Lancashire: here

West Lancashire Scouts is investing £450,000 to start our fundraising campaign to make this project a reality (read more about our launch: here). We are working with businesses and are delighted to launch our fundraising campaign. You can donate and be part of this incredible legacy as an individual or by fundraising as a section or group.

Our target through this campaign is to raise over £200,000. You can donate anything at any time, but we are launching some specific campaigns:

£100 – Buy a Brick – those who buy a brick will have their name displayed on our Supporter Display Board in the lobby of the new building.

£250 – To Sponsor one of the 80 beds in our new building, with the Sponsor’s name added to a plaque on the entrance to the room (We’ve planned our accommodation to be 2 or 8 beds per room).

£1,000 – Sponsor a stone on the Promise Path, the route from the camp centre to the new building, with the Sponsor’s name engraved. (A fantastic way to commemorate loved ones passed and celebrate the long-standing connections between families, individuals, and organisations to Waddecar).

£5,000 – Sponsor a room – choose the room’s name, which will feature on the door.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your donation. If you donate under any of these campaigns, please get in touch with us to confirm the name you would like displayed, recognising your generous donation.

We also seek large donations over these levels, including developing lasting partnerships and sponsorships. To discuss this further, please get in touch with us (email) and to read more about our plans: here
