Programme
In Scouting, the word Programme describes the wide range of activities, challenges, and experiences that young people can enjoy. It provides a structure of badges and awards, which are progressive through the sections, and based on Scouting’s purpose: to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.
The Programme is built around three key themes: outdoor and adventure, world, and skills. Within these, leaders and young people work together to plan an exciting and varied programme that offers something for everyone. With flexibility at its heart, the Programme adapts to the needs of each individual, ensuring that all young people, regardless of ability, can enjoy, learn, and achieve.
Here in West Lancs, our Programme Team is here to support volunteers by making it easier to offer a wide range of opportunities. That could mean adventurous activities like climbing, sailing, or mountain biking; specialist events and overseas trips; or helping volunteers access the training and permits needed to deliver activities themselves.
We also help coordinate major events that bring together hundreds of young people and volunteers for unforgettable shared experiences. Whether it’s a night away under canvas, an international adventure, or learning a brand-new skill, our aim is to make sure every young person in West Lancs has the chance to experience the best Scouting has to offer.
