Where will we be skiing?
We will be staying with UCPA, a French company that cater for schools and youth groups as well as adults.
The UCPA sports village of La Plagne 1800 offers an unforgettable holiday at the foot of the slopes, to be able to ride on the 225km of very varied slopes, to train on the snowpark adapted to all levels and to spend evenings between other young people. An ideal week on the slopes to make new friends! Located opposite the Mont Blanc massif, the sports village of La Plagne 1800, recently renovated and very comfortable offers direct access to the slopes to make the most of the ski sessions. Whether your just starting out on the slopes or already experienced, the team of the sports village of La Plagne 1800 guarantees you’ll spend unforgettable moments both during the riding sessions and outside the sports activities.
When are we going?
We’ll be going Sunday 2 April to Friday 7 April 2023.
We’ll have one or two training days/weekends before we go, when you’ll meet your fellow ski participants, and learn more about what to expect from your trip. We may visit a dry ski slope as part of the training.
Who can go?
Scouts, Explorers and Network members between 14 and 25 years old on the date of departure can apply.
We plan to take up to 26 participants.
What will it be like?
Cold!! If you have never been skiing before it will be important to appreciate that warm clothing and accessories are needed. This will be discussed in detail as part of the training.
At the end of each day, though you will be tired, there will be time to explore or simply relax.
You will sleep in a 3 or 4 bedded room with toilet and shower block on every corridor.

What will we eat?
All UCPA meals are buffet style and with multiple servings the norm; you won’t go hungry.
Breakfast is normally yogurts, cereals, fruit juice, coffee and bread – don’t be surprised to see that the coffee and tea is taken in a bowl!
It is possible to return to the centre for lunch everyday where you will find 1 or 2 hot options available. As with all meals there will be a salad bar, plenty of bread, cheese, meat and of course desert, saving a fortune by avoiding the piste side restaurants.
Dinner is a 3/4 course buffet – typically a salad bar style starter, a choice of 3 hot main courses, a cheese and cold meat platter and ice cream/dessert.
If you have any severe dietary requirements, please let us know and we can contact the centre to let them know. Generally speaking, vegetarians will find plenty of options, with vegan options being a little more scarce but improving year on year.
What equipment and clothing do I need?
If you don’t have skiwear, don’t buy anything yet, we’ll talk about all your equipment needs during one of the training sessions and give you advice on what to ask for, for Christmas 😉
What will it cost?
