Croatia 2020 (in 2021*)

In October 2021* West Lancs Scouts will run a 1-week yachting trip to the Dubrovnik area of Croatia. This is the trip that was scheduled for October 2020 but has been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We now have a few spaces to fill on the trip, and we hope you can join us!

Each boat will have a Skipper, Assistant, and up to 6 young people from Explorers and Scout Network.

We will spend the week sailing around the islands off the Croatian coast, living and eating on board the yachts. There will be plenty of time for exploring some spectacular places including some onshore activities at the islands we visit, as well as swimming off the boat and snorkelling.

There will be one compulsory training weekend and several compulsory training days prior to the trip, so you can learn the basics of sailing a yacht and get to know your fellow crew mates.

The cost of the trip is no more than £1100 which includes all your travel, food, insurance and training. The only things you will need on top of that, are perhaps some personal clothing (general outdoor activity clothing is fine), a life jacket (around £50) and travel to/from the training weekend/days, likely to be in the Lake District. If travel, or finances, are a problem then please let us know in the notes on the application form as this shouldn’t be a barrier to you attending and we may be able to help. In particular please talk to us about postponing payments as you may not need to pay the full amount by October 2021.

The boats will be 48′ – 52′ Sailing yachts with 5 cabins and 3 bathrooms, plenty big enough for the crew of 8 people. Young people will share a cabin. You can see a layout of this sort of yacht below.

* If the trip cannot take place in 2021 it will be deferred into 2022.
