Additional Information
Entry Information
- Expressions of interest should be sent to the MAC Team on the team email address – themac@westlancsscouts.org.uk. Please provide an estimate on the number of teams and competitors. An entry form will be sent by return e-mail.
- The closing date will be mid – July based on feedback from the organising team and some Explorer Leaders. It is aligned to the end of the summer term.
- The aim is to try to bring more certainty to the organisers on numbers and viability of the event.
- For Explorer Leaders and Explorer Scouts, the aim is to get commitment earlier to avoid a short organising time for teams
Refund Policy
To minimise the financial risk from entering and paying earlier, a refund policy has been introduced.
The entry fee pays for two things:
- Contribution to the infrastructure cost (Radios, On event transport, refreshments) – Typically £8 per head
- Campsite fees – Budgeted at £22 per head
Total – £30 per head
Refund Policy
If an individual withdraws from the event their campsite fees will be refunded. Refunds will be paid after the event such that the organising team can focus on
the safe running of the event.
Remote Supervision
The event is run using “Remote Supervision” of teams. As such, the participants get the opportunity of being responsible for their own navigation and safety. They are monitored on the route at regular check points and by sweep teams of leaders, but the intent of the event is for the teams to have the experience and challenge of an
independent journey through the hills.
First Aid – the Scout Policy, Organisation and Rules and the event risk assessment requires the teams to have immediate access to first aid. The standard required is First Response, or equivalent (Scout Emergency First Aid Badge – Stage 4). A minimum of one person per team must have first aid training. It is however better to have more than one person with first aid training. This will be rewarded within the points system.
