| Craig’s summer message Summer is finally upon us. I want to start by thanking you for the part you play in supporting Scouting. As an organisation we’ve had a brilliant year. We’ve seen the return of many of our events and brought people back together again. We’ve launched a new section, Squirrels, and welcomed new people to our organisation, and we continue to reach out to engage more young people and adults. After a challenging few years, Scouting has never been needed more. Thank you for all that you do to support us ‘build back bigger and better’ from the pandemic. West Lancs Scouts has no shortage of ambition and as we prepare for the new Scouting year we are keen to strengthen our support to Groups and Districts. As such, we are advertising for people to join a number of our existing and some new teams. We are looking for people who enjoy working with others, achieving results and making a difference. | Assistant County Commissioner (Communications) We are looking for a passionate person to lead the work of our media and comms team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing and supporting a large team to achieve great results. You’ll be responsible for managing our internal communications to members and for promoting Scouting externally too. We have a great team of photographers, videographers, social media editors, webmasters, designers, animators and brand specialists – we are now looking for someone to lead that team. | Members of the County Presentation Team Do you like organising events and ensuring everything runs smoothly? This might be the role for you. We are looking to rebuild our presentations team. This team is responsible for planning and delivering special events and several award ceremonies for young people and adults throughout the year. They’re involved in event planning, administration, communication, looking after invited guests and ensuring everything goes to plan. As a member of the team, you will work with one committee to help coordinate the creation of agendas for meetings, managing paper deadlines and distribution of meeting materials, taking minutes and managing action logs through the use of Office 365. This group will be responsible for identifying and coordinating funding opportunities for the County, Districts and Groups. | Members of the Group Exec Support Project We want to support groups to recruit and induct new members to join their Group Executive Committees- to support groups with gift aid, finance, fundraising, property management, health and safety and much more. To do this, we are going to be delivering some targeted recruitment campaigns in the Autumn term. We are now looking for people with experience of Group Executive Committees to join our project team. This team will work alongside our County Development Officers to develop a recruitment strategy and identify ways to support and induct new trustees, develop resources and provide support through induction events and workshops.
